The Victorian Government has committed to following recommendations made by the Royal Commission into Family Violence. To date, they have followed through on a number of these recommendations...
...with the exception of protections for tenants affected by family violence.
Domestic Violence Victoria and family violence services are calling on the Victorian Special Minister of State, the Hon Gavin Jennings MLC, and the Victorian Government to act to protect women and children in rental homes who are experiencing family violence.
This needs to be an urgent priority for the Government before the state election in November. Our state’s laws should help families escape bad situations, not hinder them.
